Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
WatchLater helps you save and organize movies and TV series. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Information we collect
- Account details — when you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable user identifier and (if you choose to share them) your email address and display name. These are used to authenticate you and to sync your data across your devices.
- Watchlist content — titles you save, watch status, ratings, notes, reminders, collections and preferences. This data lives primarily on your device.
- Shared Spaces content — when you opt into a Shared Space with another user, the titles, reactions and notes added to that space are stored in our cloud (Supabase) so they can sync between participants.
- Import and search input — text, links or screenshots you send into smart import, describe search or voice search. This input is processed to find matching movie or TV metadata.
- Diagnostics — per-install device identifier (not linked to your name), quota counters, error codes and request timing. Used to protect the service from abuse and to debug failures.
How we use it
- To provide the core features you ask for (saving titles, syncing, reminders, search).
- To authenticate you and keep your shared content available to the right people.
- To enforce fair usage limits on AI-assisted features and detect abusive traffic.
- To improve reliability by reviewing aggregated error rates. We do not build advertising or marketing profiles.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no IDFA.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking. The App Tracking Transparency prompt is not used because we do not track you.
- No selling or renting of personal data to anyone.
- No third-party analytics product (Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook SDK, etc.) is embedded.
Third-party services we rely on
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, push notifications, App Attest.
- Supabase — authenticated cloud storage for Shared Spaces and quota records. Supabase processes data on EU servers (Frankfurt).
- TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie and TV metadata, posters and provider info. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- OpenAI — only invoked from our Formevo-controlled backend when you actively use smart import or describe search. Your input prompt (not your account identity) is forwarded. TMDB content (overviews, original titles, posters) is never forwarded to OpenAI.
Device security and abuse prevention
Backend requests are signed with HMAC and verified with Apple App Attest to ensure they originate from a legitimate copy of the app. This protects you and us from API abuse.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your watchlist data at any time from inside the app. To delete your account and all cloud data (Shared Spaces, quota records, profile), email hello@formevo.app from the address linked to your Apple ID and we will action it within 30 days.
Subscriptions
Subscription billing, cancellation, and refunds are handled through Apple. WatchLater receives only the receipt information needed to validate entitlement.
Children
WatchLater is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
International transfers
Our backend infrastructure runs in the EU (Frankfurt). OpenAI processing may occur in the United States; standard contractual clauses apply.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. Contact hello@formevo.app to exercise any of these rights.
